Mequon-Thiensville Rotary’s Lobsters for Redbuds

Lobster Fest, our major fundraiser, is coming soon! August 28, 2010Redbud Tree

May I ask for your help?

Many of you know I have been a member of Rotary for nearly 25 years.

Rotary is an international and local organization that does so many good things from its Polio Plus program to International exchange for high school students and adults early in their careers, and to community projects such as book, clothing, food, and blood drives. In our house we have hosted six students from Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Because it is a non-religious and non-political organization, Rotary brings together a large mix of people.

A current project is the river walk in Thiensville which involves trails through trees. (www.mtrotaryriverwalk.org/RRWHome.htm)

Some of you might guess that I actually like trees and that it is not just what I do for a living.  Redbuds are one of my favorite trees and I want to plant over 1,000! (Google Redbud under images for more photos)

Some of the money we raise at our Lobster Fest event will go toward purchasing these trees.

I am arranging to get special wholesale pricing and will be donating time, equipment and planting amendments toward making this happen.

Washington DC’s cherry blossoms won’t be able to hold a candle to us!

How you can help:

  1. Buy some tickets from me ($60 each) and come to the event.
(www.mtsunriserotary.org/ticketpurchase.html) It will be fun; I’ll even buy you a drink (before you visit the auction tent).  If you don’t like lobster, you can order something else!

  2. Donate an item to the silent auction. Maybe your house? or how about just some restaurant certificates or anywhere in between.  I’m donating a large load of bark mulch.  Be creative.

  3. Buy a Redbud tree.  Or maybe a family grove we can name in your honor.

  4. Buy some corporate advertising at our event.  Let us try and help you promote your business.

  5. Send a really big check!

Thanks!!  Bill
